Your most important sale in life is to sell yourself to yourself – or so said Maxwell Maltz. 🙌🏼
The most important person you will ever sell anything to is... actually, you.
Think about it! What selling really is at the end of the day is turning motivation into action. So, if you’re going to be who you say you're going to be, you’re going to have to turn your motivation into action! 🚀
You're the one who has to get up and get to work to create whatever it is that you want to create. No one else can do it for you. And if you haven't sold yourself on your dream? You probably won’t do it.
But selling doesn't always happen overnight. We like to take our time and think things over, especially when it’s something big and important. And, because it’s so easy to get distracted in the meantime, it helps to get little reminders here and there.
“Hey, you, still want those shoes? Click here, come on,” or “Good morning, would you still like to be a big bad… copywriter? Yeah? Cool! Let’s get to work then, shall we?” That kind of stuff. 😉
So your job is to sell your very own dreams to, well, yourself – harder and harder every day, until thy excite you enough to make you want to get off the couch and get to work!
And, while you’re at it, remind yourself that what you want to do is more important than anything else you think you need to do. Over and over again.
Because when you go overboard and say yes to too many things you think you need to do (spoiler: you don’t) you dilute your precious energy. 🙅🏻♀️
I loved Yes Man, but saying yes to everything coming your way is a sure way to lose motivation, fast. Speaking of, I’ll tell you more about my thoughts on it and what to do when feeling unmotivated next week!
